MADRAGOA
Emilio Gola
Milan, Italy, 1994
About the Artist

Gola’s artistic practice centers on the human figure, approached with a spontaneity and intimacy that feels both instinctive and choreographed. His large-scale compositions emerge from live drawing sessions with friends who pose freely in the studio. These bodies twist, recline, and intertwine in unguarded, often dynamic arrangements— temporary constellations captured in the search for a visual equilibrium. While rooted in figuration, his work resists traditional portraiture, opting instead for evocative scenes filtered through an unusual, often elevated perspective.

Emilio Gola was born in Milan in 1994, where he lives and works.

Recent exhibitions include Madragoa (2025); Tommaso Calabro, Venice (2025); Museo della Permanente, Milan (2024); Monica De Cardenas, Milan (2024); ArtNoble Gallery, London (2023);

Rizzuto Gallery, Palermo (2023); Annarumma Gallery, Naples (2023); Triennale di Milano, Milan (2023); and ArtNoble Gallery, Milan (2022). He has been recognized with the Caserini Due Torri Hotel Prize for painters under 35 at ArtVerona and was a finalist for both the Cairo Prize and the Francesco Fabbri Prize for contemporary art.
